An expert panel will tell you how to find, fund, and check for legal and practical issues when launching a franchise system or purchasing a franchise. The panel will include Marcelo Alvarez, of the Entrepreneur’s Source, a broker for more than 130 leading franchise systems; David Enquist, President of Business Lending Solutions, Inc., a loan broker; and Bill Price, of Growthlaw.com, a lawyer. We have also invited Dan Shanahan, Area Director for Jersey Mike's Franchise Systems, a successful owner of multiple franchise sites, and will provide an alternative owner if Mr. Shanahan is not available.

 

Speaker Bios: 

 

Marcelo Alvarez, Franchise Coach/Broker, The Entrepreneur’s Source:  As a franchisee with The Entrepreneur's Source, Marcelo helps his clients explore the possibility of starting a business by guiding them through a process of discovery where he helps his clients learn and pursue business and franchise options that are targeted to their needs.  In addition, Marcelo is a part-time Small Business Counselor and Instructor with the Illinois Small Business Development Center at Waubonsee Community College in Aurora , IL . Before starting his own business in 2006, Marcelo spent 20 years in corporate America where he had finance, marketing, business development and general management roles with Pepsi-Cola, Miller Brewing and Capital One.  He has Marketing and Finance degrees from The Wharton School at the University of Pennsylvania and an MBA in Management from LaSalle University.

 

David Enquist, President, Business Lending Solutions, Inc.: David has over 30 years of lending experience to the small business community throughout the U.S.  In 1989 David left a distinguished commercial banking career to form his own lending and consulting business. Over the years, David has been involved in funding projects totaling in excess of  $1,000,000,000!!   In the greater Chicagoland area, David is a recognized authority in the utilization of the Small Business Administration loan programs. As a highly effective consultant for both  lenders and borrowers, David expeditiously prepares structuring recommendations and financial analysis for project funding requests of all types, sizes and circumstances.

 

William A. Price, Attorney at Law, www.growthlaw.com: Bill is a lawyer in private practice in Warrenville, Illinois. His franchise practice has included advice to general counsels of existing franchise systems on contract management and regulatory compliance organization; Franchise Disclosure Document drafting for franchisors and analysis for existing and prospective franchisees, negotiation of LLC Operating Agreements for food service and other franchise co-owners, dispute resolution for joint owners and franchisors, drafting and negotiation of site licenses and employee contracts for franchisees, and arrangements for financing in conjunction with both purchase and sale of single and multiple unit businesses. His general business practice includes US and international clients. His volunteer work includes leadership roles in the Institute for Illinois Business Laws, the Illinois State Bar Association, and the U of C Booth Entrepreneurship Roundtable.
